On Wednesday, Nov 30th 2011 we had the pleasure to have the singer and song-writer April Holman visiting the WHUS 91.7 FM studios for an interview. Born on April 22, 1986 in Glastonbury, CT she learned that at the early age of 6 singing for her was a natural ability. Later on with 11 years old she got an electric guitar for Christmas, and only last year April Holman started to play out with her wonderful voice and guitar skills amazing everyone who listens to her music. In 2010, April Holman and four other musicians formed a band called Local News which has April on Vocals and Guitar, Jesse Moriarty on Bass, Richard Hamilton on Drums, Chad Johnston on Keyboard and Kevin Rootes on lead guitar.

The Local News band has blended a variety of genres, seamlessly mixing soul, jazz, rock, and funk. Each member contributes a different style which forms a sound all their own. The Local News Band genre of music is self-called So Jarunk = Soul, Jazz, Rock and Funk
Jesse Moriarty with his melodic and funk driven basslines; the tight grooves of Richard Hamilton; the masterful guitar work of Kevin Rootes; Chad Johnston's ingenious approach to keys and through it all are April Holman's sultry vocals.
In the beginning of 2011 the Local News Band released the CD called Jesse’s Room and the music is available on itunes webpage.
