Particle Wave- “Interference Pattern”

Classic rock inspired jamming indie rock

Bands with physics inspired names/albums continue to not impress. Competent indie rock with a strong generic classic rock feel. They have a tendency to have “jam” solos that really did nothing for me and slightly detracted. Use of distortion was well placed and added to songs that incorporated it. Nothing special, nothing terrible.

The Bundles- “The Bundles”

Anti-folk, folksy indie

Kimya Dawson, Jeffery Lewis, Karl Blau, Anders Griffin, and Jack Lewis get together and make an album and it is pretty much what you would expect. Their individual styles mesh well such that the whole is greater the sum of the parts. Surprisingly more serious than I expected (which is still pretty silly). If you don’t like Kimya Dawson and Jeffery Lewis you won’t like this, if you do, you will, if you’ve never heard them, give it a try! Sweet lip harp on track 8

Kate Miller-“Heidke”

Very much pop

Ultra poppy Australian singer-songwriter. Think Lily Allen but much poppier. Naturally, the songs are very catchy and quick to get stuck in your head but are pretty silly and a bit shallow. A Handful of songs are a bit sickening. I wanted to hate it but some of the songs have grown on me because they are too damn catchy! Opening song way too much of a Britney Spears vide. Light and pleasant overall, changes style around but the music is really just the stage for her singing.

RIYL: Lily Allen, Kate Nash, Regina Spektor

FCC: Dirty words are silenced

Recommended tracks: 4, 7

Rating: 5.8/10 (Songs range from a 1 to a 7)
