Musical Bazaar
As house music starts to sweep across the globe I feel it is my duty to keep you ahead of the curve when it comes to the Electro Dance Music (EDM) scene. People have started to embrace this musical type as more and more DJs begin touring the US. Or they might just like the party atmosphere that goes along with it. This time last year not many people knew who Avicii or Afrojack was and here are 4 people to keep an eye on for a break out year.
1) Tommy Trash - In my opinion the must up and coming DJ right now. He has a unique sound and utilizes instruments and horns from the continet of Asia. He is also a extremely talented bootleger with his ability to match vocals from one song to the instrumental of another and make it seem as if that was the original way it was intended to be. He was also commissioned by the current kings of the industry, Swedish House Mafia, to remix their most recent hit "Antidote". The epitome of his sound can be found in the song "The End" that broke him into the indusrty.
2) Otto Knows - Personal friend of this years break out artist Avicii, Otto Knows is another one of those swedish DJs taking over the scene. He was featured on on of Avicii's Levels podcasts and has a similar uplifting sound utilizing piano. His hit song "Million Voices" has been featured in many DJ sets already and I doubt it will fall out of favor anytime soon with it's infectious beat and vocals. With Avicii as a close personal friend, I'm willing to bet we'll be hearing more from him very soon.
3) Wolfgang Gartner - One of our great American hopes to keep up with the European domination of electro music. While I wouldn't say by any means that he is a little known DJ with huge hits already under his belt like "Feel So Close" and current #3 song on Beatport "There and Back". He has already collaborated with probably the most recognizble DJ in the world, Deadmau5 with "Animal Rights" and as his song says they're no stopping him right now.
4) Michael Calfan - A French DJ following in current #1 DJ in the world according to DJ Mag David Guetta, he made a name for himself in 2011 with a huge hit that was remixed by Swedish House Mafia member Axwell with "Resurection". While the Axwell remix is what gets the most airplay, make no mistake most of the production was done by Calfan before hand. More recently he has even remixed one of his fellow Frenchman's songs when he put his touch on David Guetta's "Turn Me On". Hand discovered by established DJ Bob Sinclair, he looks to continue his rise with Sinclair's guidanc
