Home To The Kyles - from Steam Jenny's CD "Dumbarton's Drums" This tune is also known as "Tighnabruaich", and the scenery described is spectacular.
Golden Virginia - jj - new release CD "No3" - mellow Swedish songs
Morning Has Broken - Valerie Dunbar - from her CD "The Old Rugged Cross" I first encountered Valerie's music in the late 70s on a visit to Scotland, I walked into "Lawrie's" a nook & cranny record store to get some local music and a casette was playing. I said "Who's that singing?" The reply "Valerie Dunbar". My reply "sold".
Run To The Hills - Hellsongs - "Hymns In The Key of 666" Click on "reviews" on our home page to learn more about this band/CD.
Vesle Kari Rud - Amasong The song is shorter than the legend behind it. Kari Rud could outdance anyone in her village. One evening a stranger invited her onto the dance floor. Faster and faster he twirled her until she fell over dead. The implication that the stranger was the Devil links dancing women to moral transgression.
A Whiter Shade of Pale - Doro - Track 1 on "Force Majeure" I never liked this song until I heard Doro sing it.
Rattlin' Bones - Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson Duo from Australia, title cut of their 2008 CD
One Last Look - Gin Wigmore - from "Holy Smoke" Brand new - again from Australia. Read my review of this great CD.
Two songs in honor of Dr Martin Luther King Jr complete our playlist this week. Both were penned within hours of his death. April 4, 1968
I Have A Dream - Carolyn Hester - "Texas Songbird"
The King of Love Is Dead. Why? - Nina Simone - The live version from "Forever Young Gifted & Black"
