CURRENT SHOW
Dark Side of the Highway
Rush, one of the iconic Prog-rock bands, has released their 19th studio album. Founded in 1968 Rush is comprised of; Geddy Lee on vocals, bass and keys, Alex Lifeson on Guitar, and Neil Peart on drums and percussion.
Their latest release is proof that after 38 years together you can still make great music that satisfies their cult-like fan base and introduces themselves to a new generation of fans. This album, their 1st since "Snakes & Arrows" 5 years ago, is one of their best.
While their height of mainstream popularity peaked in the 90's Rush has not stopped making creative music. This three piece Canadian band boasts one of the worlds top 5 drummers in Neil Peart who wrote the lyrics for Clockwork Angels and Lee's angelic voice gives the lyrics power and meaning.
This is a concept album in which the songs take you through a wonderful journey to world of steampunk to find the truth, the meaning of life, and everything in between. The story includes lost cities, pirates, anarchists, exotic carnivals, and a Watchmaker.Peart includes some of his favorite stories such as The Wreckers who were a pirate like bunch that would loot unsuspecting ships and the myth of treasure at thelost Seven Cities of Gold.
I am very impressed by this long awaited release and you need to get the whole album and appreciate it. If you have never heard Rush (shameful), liked Rush, or are a Rush fan you will not be disappointed by this release. The musicianship and sound is amazing, the lyrics moving, and Rush is back with vengeance!
There is also a book to be released in September called Clockwork Angels: The Novel by Neal Peart and Kevin J Anderson which is a continuation of the journey expressed in the album.
Rush starts a world tour in September and are in our area 10/10/12 at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. No on sale info or other Connecticut shows yet.
