The Spring 2013 WHUS Training Class starts with a no-obligation informational meeting at 7PM on Wednesday, February 13th in Oak Hall, Room 112.

The class covers technical, aesthetic, and legal aspects of radio; everything you need to host your own show on WHUS; the proverbial first step in your thousand-mile journey to media domination.  I mean, Stern's played out; Rush can't even hear himself talk (and could never hear himself think); Glenn Beck is just plain looney; Imus is like that guy from Hellboy, y'know- the one with the clockwork heart?  Every time I mention Opie & Anthony people look at me blankly.  There's room, is what I'm saying.  We'll talk.

Focus!  In addition to classroom material, trainees will undergo mentoring with an on-air DJ, and may also obtain training in our digital production studio.

It sounds like a lot, but it's fun and easy.  You'll be done before final exams.

WHUS airs an incredibly wide variety of programming.  Everything from alternative genres of music; public affairs and news shows; talk shows; occasional radio theater; and, of course, tons and tons of UCONN sports.  You can get involved in any of this, or you can carve out your own unique space in broadcast history.

For more information, email Chris Sampson (trainingdirector@whus.org).

No, Laurel Hall was formally known as the classroom building. Oak Hall is the new building next to the library.
