Hey Now We have a few pairs of tickets to giveaway for this one time event.The film which captures the band at the height of there musical prowess was a benefit for Ken's brother Chuck Kesey's dairy farm.The storied and legendary concert took place on the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Veneta, Oregon on a blistering hot summer day in August.The New Riders of the Purple Sage opened up the show for the Dead that day which also featured the Merry Prankster's on the loose amid many folks under the influence of LSD."The Grateful Dead said it was the stark nakedest scene they'd ever attended,"
The show dubbed the Springfield Creamery Benefit or Field Trip features the Dead at a very productive artistic musical point in there career, fresh off the highly succesful Europe 72 tour and shortly before embarking on starting there own record label and erecting the amazing wall of sound.The long extended jams of this era are deeply rooted in the music of jazz greats John Coltrane and Miles Davis as the band particularly Phil and Jerry had been listening to them heavily around this time.
The setlist includes red hot versions of Chincat Sunflower-> I know you Rider, Birdsong, Playin' in the Band, and an epic spellbinding Darkstar !
Grateful Dead "Sunshine Daydream" the concert film from the Band's August 27 1972 performance in Veneta, Oregon will be in select theaters one night only, Thursday, August 1st.
