The Changing Landscape of Journalism: Adapting. Evolving. Surviving?
A Panel Discussion
Tuesday, October 29, 2013 5:00PM
Laurel Hall 101
The Leadership Office is excited to host a panel discussion exploring the opportunities, challenges, and implications for various directions journalistic enterprises are taking in response to the rapidly changing platforms, producers, and consumers of news and information. With the growing prevalence of digital media, decentralized content development and dissemination, and a variety of other technological and generational changes, journalism and the entire media industry has been forced to choose between adapting or fading into irrelevance. From media consolidation to online-only platforms, these choices have serious implications for current and future journalists and consumers. The panelists, all media practitioners and experts, will analyze the factors affecting the industry, the strategic implications for media organizations, and what the future of media holds for society.
Moderated by Rick Green, columnist and political editor at the Hartford Courant, the panel will include:
· Jenifer Frank, Editor of the CT Mirror
· Jerry Franklin, President of Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Inc.
· Ric Harris, President & General Manager for NBC Connecticut
Admission to this event is free. All members of the UConn community are welcomed to attend this panel.
