On Sunday, the phone rang a bit like it was contest time -- at least for about the first 40 minutes of the show.  Wow!  We love to get requests -- after all, how do we know if folks are really listening? -- so thanks to everyone who called.  While we weren't able to answer all of the specific requests, I think we did okay.  Hope you agree...

New and newer music was part of Sunday's show, as well.  The new recording from Darren Beachley & Legends Of The Potomac is quite excellent.  Connecticut performer Nathan Day has a new self-produced Bluegrass album with guests Roger Williams, Dave & Bob Dick, and Amy Gallatin, and an all-female band known as Sweet Potato Pie has a new gospel CD.

And since music legend Hank Williams received a special recognition Pulitzer Prize this week, we thought it was only appropriate to cluster together another grouping of Hank-penned tunes done in the BG style.  Of course, we had to get Hank himself in there, too, as it's easy to see (and hear) that the man had a unique vocal style -- so much feeling and emotion in every word he sang and wrote!  Will there ever be another singer with quite the same impact on the music world as Hiram Williams?  It 's been 57 years since his death on January 1, 1953, but so far, I really can't think of another singer with that same sort of lasting impact.  Can you?

Anyhow, Jim will be in the studio for "BG Cafe" next Sunday -- be sure to join him, as I'm sure it'll be a dandy show!

some interesting thgins and we've had some civil discussions on this site. But I take issue when you say thgins like if you don’t like Hank Williams Jr. you are just not an American. Please tell me you are joking. This is something that drives liberals nuts, and our frustration gets interpreted as hatred for the heartland: stop telling us you are more American than we are. America is bigger than you.
