Let me be the first to tell you Connecticut Democrats should come out way ahead on today’s events. First, the Connecticut Supreme Court rescued the Democratic power structure from themselves. Unable to get past Suzy’s previously strong elections results (boosted primarily by the unwillingness to risk entering anything resembling an actual political race) the Democrats stood poised to post a candidate for Attorney General who at best is unable to fill out the most basic of legal paperwork. Consider that. How do you feel about having a person in charge of all legal filings for your state that is unable to accurately fill out the paper work for her attorney’s license! Plus, we found out that she wasn’t even paying the fee herself. Nancy DiNardo should send a great big bouquet to 7 distinguished justices in Hartford with the good sense to put the brakes on that one.
Meanwhile, the Dicky B, eh that’s Richard Blumenthal, bandwagon just got a little lighter. I promise it’ll be full again in no time. The man has owned up to his “mistake”, which when aligned with his record and other statements appears to be just that. Over time damage control will mitigate the issue. The real question is whether Democrats can capitalize on Linda McMahon’s gaff. Linda is basically running on the single message point that she is bringing something different to Washington. I’ll give credit to the PR folks anytime a rich Republican is making a populist message resonate with so many people, but here’s the thing; Linda McMahon just tipped her hand. In tipping off the NYT, she showed the partisan bickering and dirty politics she would bring to Washington. Hey; wait! That sounds familiar. Partisan gridlock and putting personal political aspirations ahead of the good of your constituents is exactly how Washington became the problem. So take the bait Dems and point out that what Linda is actually offering is more of the same in Washington.
It reminds me of the time the World Wildlife Federation was sued by Linda’s organization over use of the name WWF. A quick google of the initials WWF and WWE should tell you how that one turned out for Linda. Politics are anything but predictable, but if the Democrats play their cards right then today should turn out to be a very good day for them. Meanwhile I am either a genius or a fool, but I either way don’t call me conventional (conventions are this weekend).
