For the last several weeks, Jim and I have been receiving and playing lots of brand-new BG music on the WHUS airwaves.  Sunday's show was absolutely no exception, as we shared music from a previously-unknown (to us) band from Oregon (Jett's Creek), a longtime banjo-pickin' sideman (Ben Greene), two bands whose leaders have had success in other BG bands (the Kathy Kallick Band; the Gary Waldrep Band), and a great-sounding, traditional band on Rebel Records (Junior Sisk & Ramblers Choice).  In addition, we played more music from CDs that Jim has played quite a bit in recent weeks, from songwriter Mark "Brink" Brinkman and a CT/MA/NJ band known as the Old Time Bluegrass Singers.  Great, great stuff.

In honor of Memorial Day -- a day that should be set aside as a day of remembrance for those who've given their lives in the service of this country -- we played a few BG tunes relating to soldiers.  Amidst all of your other activities this weekend -- picnics, parades, enjoying big sales while shopping -- be sure to pause a moment to think of fallen soldiers.

Guest DJ Clyde Proch came in for an hour, and once again, hit the proverbial radio ball out of the park.  Clyde shared tunes from performers who will be appearing at several area BG festivals this summer, including Strawberry Park in Preston, the Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival in Tunbridge, VT, the Basin Bluegrass Festival in Brandon, VT, and at the Podunk Bluegrass Festival in East Hartford.  As always, Clyde did a great job with his air time, so be sure to visit with him when you see him at a BG festival near you.  If you're curious, Clyde's set list selections are highlighted in the list below...

Enjoy the rest of your Memorial Day weekend -- Jim will join you in the "Cafe" next Sunday...
