The Captain and I are so excited to have Sarah Borges and The Broken Singles on Fiat Flux on 7/24. The band will be stopping by to chat a little and perform some of their songs as a warm up for their show that night at Cafe Nine in New Haven. They're making nowavehardhonk music, whatever that is, but we like it vey much. You may have caught their stellar set at The Black Eyed and Blues Fest back in June. They continue to crisscross the country playing to enthusiastic audiences everywhere. The Americana Music Association nominated them for the 2009 Emerging Artist of the Year Award off the strength of their outstanding The Stars Are Out cd. They also have the new Live Singles, available only at shows and the web site and a soon to be released DVD. The band consists of Sarah Borges on vocals and guitar, Lyle Brewer on guitar, Binky on bass and Rob Dulaney on drums. Their guitar player called me up on my show a while back to request some Johnny Cash...They were listening to "Dark Side of the Highway" on the way home to Massachusetts from a gig they had just played in Connecticut (the Vanilla Bean I think it was) the previous night...
