Sarah Jaffe- “Suburban Nature”

Folksy indie singer-songwriter

Pleasant melodic songs with very resonant vocals and an array of acoustic instruments. The driving vocals make the think of a folksy Regina Spektor. Changes between lighter songs and darker strings driven songs.

Recommended Tracks:  1, 3, 13            FCC: Clean

RIYL: Regina Spektor (but folksy), Anni Rossi (but all acoustic)

Score: 7/10

Serial Killer- “Night Driving in Small Towns”

Cutesy poppy indie with occasional country flair

Songs feature either female vocals with harmonies or Matt and Kim/Mates of State style boy-girl singing. Light indie rock with occasional electric piano and country/folksy sounds interspersed in addition to standard instruments. As a whole the album stays pretty light. Pretty solid as a whole but nothing spectacular here.

Recommended Tracks: 1, 2, 8, 3             FCC: Clean

Score: 6.8/10
