Jaimoe's Jasssz Band is playing at KC Dubliner Grille & Pub, in Burlington, CT on Saturday 9/25 at 8PM.  Jaimoe was on Gravity and Chaos this past Tuesday, along with Dave Stoltz.  The three of us had quite the conversation, which you can download & listen to here (Part 1) and here (Part 2).

Now... G&C is an avant-garde show... but, from time to time, we soften our position a little; not as a compromise, but, rather, as a recognition of the fact that at one time or another, most styles within the jazz continuum were considered avant-garde.  Or, as Dizzy put it, "No Pops; no me.".

Jaimoe's primary fame comes from his ongoing association with the Allman Brothers Band (a staple of my pre-Gravity-and-Chaos listening years... I love "Whipping Post", and "Jessica", and "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed", and... well... you get the picture).  What we learn about the man is that, above all else, he values playing "good music with the best musicians you can find".

Jaimoe's Jasssz Band is composed of such musicians.  But they don't get to play enough.  They're at K C Dubliner in Burlington, CT this Saturday... and at Iridium in NYC on 10/19.  You'd be well-advised to check out at least one of those appearances.
