Song - Artist - Album
Knoxville Courthouse Blues (1984) - Hank Williams, Jr. - Major Moves, Warner Bros.
Scandinavia To San Diego 9-21-10
Five Mile Town - Nuala Kennedy - Tune In - Celtic flutist concludes her new CD with this ten minute instrumental, highlighting the capabilities of her ensemble.
Along The Waterline - Mohanders - End of Our Lies - A group from Germany, featuring guitarist Michael Graeffe and vocalist Sven Bazner.

Failure - Laura Marling - Alas I Cannot Swim - Laura's debut album. Her sound is characterised by her darkish poetic lyrics. Just 18 when this was released in 2008, she has a new release "I Speak Because I Can".
Soda - Dungen - Skit I Allt - Sweden's alt rock Dungen sweetly return with a collection of gorgeous rippers and graceful jazz filled polyrhythms. Skit I Allt , for those without a Swedish-English dictionary handy, means "fuck all". Now you know how to cuss in Swedish! . Currently on a US tour, they will be in Burlington VT on Oct 12, and Boston, Oct 13.

Stay Young - The Clydesiders - Crossing The Borders - One of my favorite Scottish groups since the 80s, I'm amazed they are not more well known. Always quality recordings and great song selections.
Do That Thing - Anita Lane - Sex O'Clock - Lane was born in Melbourne, lived in England. This 2001 British release is an intoxicating and addictive treat by the unique Anita Lane. Singing/speaking in equal parts Claudine Longet, Jane Birkin and Nick Cave, she inhabits these songs.
I'm Attracted To You - Mira - Mira is actually Irina Gribova, Russian folk and bluegrass singer, lead vocalist for the Countrybandists, and a graduate of Moscow Conservatory. Lending her voice to the UltraMax Project.

Nageki - Kitaro - Kojiki - Kojiki is the ancient chronicle of the creation of Japan. Nageki refers to Hikaru going to hide in Celestial Rock Cave, plunging the world into total darkness.
Heavy In Your Arms - Florence & The Machine - Twilight Saga/Eclipse Soundtrack - London based collective of musicians. In her website bio, Florence states she writes her best songs when she’s drunk or has a hangover, because that’s when the freedom, the feral music comes, creating itself wildly from the fragments gathered in her notebooks and in her head.
The Stone of Destiny - John McSherry - Soma - New CD from piper displaying a high level of creativity.
Benen I Kors - Lisa Ekdahl - self titled - A request from last week, always happy to play music by Lisa.
Heard You Got A Thing For Me - Cocktail Slippers - St Valentines Day Massacre - Norway’s premiere all girl band The Cocktail Slippers have been making incredible strides in the international music scene following the release of Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre. The title track is one of two songs on the album written, arranged, and produced by Little Steven. This album marks only the third time in Wicked Cool history that label head Steven Van Zandt has become directly involved in the production of a record (the other two times were with The Chesterfield Kings). PS: I think "Wicked Cool" is one of the best names of a record label.
Green Fields of France - The Fureys - Poppies - Eric Bogle's "No Man's Land retitled by Scottish band.
Worried Mind - Mike Whellans - Fired-Up & Ready - New blues CD from Scotland, lots of good tunes.
Golden Ship - Gin Wigmore - Holy Smoke - I think I've now played every cut on this, her latest release.

Dorchester Hotel - The Sounds - Crossing The Rubicon - Swedish alternative rock band.
Baby Lee - Teenage Fanclub - Shadows - Pop rockers from Glasgow.
Water's Rising - Widow Maker - The Awful Truth - Inspired by a flood that hit her native Alberta Canada, Julie Kerr is featured on this old school bluegrass sounding original.
My Love - Sia - Twilight Saga/Eclipse Soundtrack - We've been listening to Sia Furler's new CD, here's something a little different.
No Return - Grazyna Auguscik - Past Forward - Jazz influenced Polish folk melody with lovely vocal.
My little slice of Americana to close the show, another ballad from a singer songwriter:
My Aunt Anna - Buddy Mondlock - The Song Poets - Born in Chicago, Buddy got his start as an opening act for the late Steve Goodman. Won a Kerrville award for "The Kid" recorded by David Wilcox and Peter, Paul & Mary.
