The Soldier - Leanne Chaulk - A Girl's Best Friend - Singer from Newfoundland with country/bluegrass tinged celtic music.

Passing Lane - Green Fever - Let It Grow - Music from Brian Lee and the Nimbin hills of Australia.


Both Sides The Tweed - Mairi Campbell - Celtic Women From Scotland -A Dick  Gaughan tune, song also appears on Greentrax compilation "A Clear Day's Darwin".

Poison Pen - The Vaselines - Sex With An X - Frances McKee and Eugene Kelly lead this indie pop group from Glasgow. Almost two decades have passed since their last full length album. This new one is very welcome.

Francis - Coeur de Pirate - self titled - Beatrice Martin recording in French under the alias which translates to Pirates Heart.

Fields of Athenry - Derek Moloney - Irish Tenor - A listener request, Derek made this a duet with guest soprano Deirdre Shannon. Search under "reviews" on our home page for the story behind this song.

Step Inside Love - Saskia Bruin - Step Inside Love - Another album in my October reviews. Title cut is one of two John Lennon songs this week honoring what would have been his 70th birthday.

Danny Boy - Gabrielle Angelique - Celtic Twilight - nice instrumental version of this traditional tune.

The Wild Rover
- Dropkick Murphys - Sing Loud Sing Proud - Yes they do, all kinds of music, and well.

Amazing Grace - Karen Matheson/TheScottishPower Pipe Band - Celtic Women From Scotland - A Gaelic psalm version actually recorded in 2004. Karen is the lead singer with Scottish band Capercaillie. This cut can also be found on the CD "Cathcart".

The Promise
- Within Temptation - Mother Earth - Dutch symphonic rock band led by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. A group recommended by my son.

Imagine - Jacqui McShee - Poppies - The other John Lennon song for this week, perhaps my favorite of his compositions. Jacqui was a vocalist in Pentangle.

A Town Called Obsolete - Andreya Triana - Lost Where I Belong - A third CD in my October review blog. Andreya hails from Brighton UK.

Sonny's Dream - The Clydesiders - Crossing The Borders - An uptempo version of Canadian Ron Hynes' story song, expertly performed.

Soda - Dungen (pronounced "dune-yen") - Skit I Allt - new CD all in Swedish.

Cruel - Kate Rusby - Underneath The Stars -  A singer I should play more often than I do. Her style is similar to Cara Dillon.

Cool My Heels - Nikki Yanofsky - single - New single by vibrant jazz/pop singer from Hampstead, Quebec


Red Is The Rose - Jocelyne MacDonald - Island Mix

World of Our Own - Phyllis Morrissey - Where I Live - Cover of Tom Springfield pop tune.

My little slice of Americana......

The Streets of Laredo - Johnny Cash - Ballads of The True West - Laredo sounds like Americana all right but the song has British roots. The original is supposed to be about a man who died of syphllis in a London hospital.
