I've known Rich McGhee and Margaux Hayes for several years now; had 'em on "Gravity & Chaos" a bunch of times. They defy the truism that we've had aimed at us; that real and good talent is never local. Really, real and "good" marketing... or real and "good" branding... may never be local. The huge pop stars may not be timeless, but they are placeless. What's more... there are plenty of other talented folk in Hartford and the surrounding environs. Shed the music-as-pop-ephemeral-culture model and listen.
We like to keep it real; and Margaux, Rich, Alvin Carter Sr., and Jim Mercik (collectively, "The Congo Square Ramblers") will be performing at the Jazz Underground at Hot Rod's in New London, on Saturday, 11/20. 8PM.
