After 20 years on WHUS I will be leaving to move to Kauai--those who've known me a long time know that this has long been a dream of mine.

I got an offer to rent a house for less than I pay here--Max is now 19 and enrolled in Eastern--the time is right.

I had a fantastic time at WHUS--I made many lasting friends and got the opportunity to become friends with some of my favorite musicians.

When I began One World Radio--along with Murph and others--I had an agenda. First, I wanted to present the most interesting show possible for the listeners benifit--this meant it was a rare song that got played more than once. But  I had a more insidious plan --I wanted to imbue the listeners with a feeling of oneness with the rest of the human race--for I have learned that everything in the universe is connected, and since human kind is such a small part of the universe it stands to reason we are all intristicly connected and for us to survive we must cooperate.

So much of the music I played up held this idea of Connection>Communication>Cooperation.

I had so many great experiences here I couldn't enumerate them all --but bringing Sun Ra here sure was big.

I interviewed Youssou N'Dour from Senegal --it turned out this was first time that was ever done --I was told it was on the news and a headline in the paper.

Interviewing Yulduz Usmanova from Uzbekistan was pretty big --it took 3 weeks to get through.

I got Rick Danko and Jimmy Carl Black shortly before their passing--there are hundreds of interviews I just loved doing.

KEEP THE WHUS FIRES BURNING BRIGHTLY

I''ll let you know if I get on the air on KKCR

One Love,

Richard

Fair thee well, Richard. One World Radio has become the hallmark of WHUS for good reason. . . Paraphrasing the words of the great Dr. Suess: We shouldn't cry because it's over; we should smile because it happened. The grass is greener and the wine is sweeter in Hawaii.
