Mike Greenfield
A hardened, veteran tourhead from the distant traces of the dawn of the 1990's, Mike has witnessed over 200 Grateful Dead concerts. Closer to 260, if you count Jerry Garcia Band. Which we do... Studying live sound, audio production, recording engineering, and broadcasting at California State University, he spent summers traipsing back and forth between coasts on tour with The Dead, and ultimately befriending the band Phish and their inner and outer circles of colleagues. Several hundred Max Creek shows around New England, faithfully attending 4 consecutive Phish New Year's Eve shows, followed by 4 solid years of 'Creek New Years, winding back up out on the West Coast working for Bill Graham Presents in a new "career" as a concert security officer for the last half of the 90's. This also included a 2 year stint in the mountains of Northern California. Also an accomplished self-taught guitarist, he has founded bands, managed, booked and promoted his own original music and performed live concerts as well.
Mike has been a staff member at WHUS since 2006, previously producing a popular heavy metal program here at WHUS. Launching this current inception in 2011, the anchors of modern life have limited the cross country ventures, trading sea-to-shining-sea for a high speed internet connection and streaming the couch tour nightly as this year's extensive Summer tour season ebbs and flows, trying to find spare moments to work on recording original music and forging a small business start-up.
