CURRENT SHOW
Sunday Night Folk Festival

Steve Samela

Steve has been with WHUS since the spring of 2008. He has hosted a number of shows with different formats. First in the summer of '08 he was a weekly overnight DJ. In the fall of that year he hosted “The Sporting Life” when he teamed up with fellow WHUS sports anchor Nils Anderson, UConn sports information intern “Angry” Steve Byrne, and local "guy on the street" Sean Spooner. “The Sporting Life” was an alternative sports talk show focusing on professional, collegiate, local, and out of the ordinary sports. The guys has such guests as, “the blue and white guy” Dale Nozel and members of the CT Roller Girls. The Sporting Life lasted until the summer of 2009 when Nils studied abroad in Ireland, Angry Steve went to grad school at Louisville University; Spooner went into the military, which left Steve all by his lonesome at WHUS. Steve then went back to a music format in the summer and fall of 2009 when he partnered up with local music geek Justin Roberts and formed the “All Night Diner.” Steve and Justin played indie, underground, and electronic music. They also added some practical jokes, “political commentary” with the freelance reporter who got yelled at by Jim Calhoun, Ken Krayeske and featured weekly appearances by Steve’s uncle “Crazy Bob.” Sleep when you're dead and stay up with Steve and The All Night Diner Friday Nights 12-3am.
