Every year, Radiothon is an exciting time at WHUS. This year's Radiothon is coming at a busy time of the year, but it has a very special goal: To complete our music library.
On top of daily costs of running the station—about $1300 a day—we're finally going to finish installing the music library to house our collection of nearly 35,000 CDs and 15,000 LPs. But it's going to cost us approximately $25,000. The donations made during Radiothon 2009 will go directly to the completion of the music library, enhancing every listener and DJ's experience.

We at WHUS understand the ongoing economic situation as well as anyone. It's hard to say it often enough: it doesn't matter how much you are able to give as long as you give at all. That's why, this year especially, we are very interested to hear from everyone out there who appreciates WHUS, even if you can only give $50 $25, $10 or even just $5. The part that really counts is that you make the call. After all, 100 people giving us $15 adds up very, very quickly.

As said earlier, we've been working hard to raise the funds to complete the music library. When we moved to the Student Union in August of 2007, we moved about 8,000 CDs into the studio. That's what you've been hearing on the air all this time. Last summer, we moved our LPs into the library, and installed more room for about 11,000 CDs. However, we still need to shelve about 20,000 CDs. Because of this, almost all of our archives are sitting in a self-storage unit.
Our main focus during Radiothon 2009 is to raise $25,000, which is approximately the cost to complete the music library. Completing this project will make everyone's listening experience better, enabling our DJs to fill more requests and allow all of us to express ourselves full over the airwaves.

We are working towards expanding ourselves in many other ways and to continue providing a unique combination of independent media to all our listeners. In the future, we'd like to build a new recording studio and expand our web stream, to even include a Spanish-language channel.
